Rollins Family Maple Gingerbread

1 Egg

1 tsp Cloves

1 cup Dark Brown Sugar

1 tsp Cinnamon

1/2 cup Shortening

2 tsp Ginger

1 cup Maple Syrup

2 tsp Baking Soda

1 cup Buttermilk

2 cups Flour

Mix baking soda and buttermilk. Add sugar and
Maple Syrup, then add egg. Set aside. Combine dry ingredients
and add maple mixture. Mix well. Pour into shallow,
greased pan. Bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes. Serve warm
with ice cream or Maple flavored whipped cream.
